ARC was contracted by the PATRIP Foundation to provide academic analytical support to the SLRAfg programme, helping it monitor and assess relevance, intended impact and risks in achieving its goal of strengthening local resilience and sustainable peace in North Afghanistan.

Tasks included:

• Concept development tailored to the PATRIP approach (social cohesion and integration via basic service delivery)
• Training and debriefing of field teams
• Interviews and fieldwork with sub-national governance stakeholders, community representatives and development organisations
• Governance context update following the change of government in August 2021
• Oversight of statistical assessment strategy
• Integration of Process Tracing methods into the M&E process of implementing partners
• Reporting to PATRIP and KfW headquarters

Results: Accompanying research concept (ToC-based); baseline dataset (OSDR); governance context analyses post-2021; annual M&E reports to PATRIP/KfW; methodological development of Process Tracing for resilience programmes.
